Apostle Island Lighthouse Trip 2007 [Part 2 of 3]
A trip to the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior [Part 2 of 3]
All the lighthouses were different. One was stone, one was wood and one was steel. They are all manned by volunteers who give tours. All the tours are free, except for Raspberry, which just got done with a major renovation (3$ per person). Devil's Island still has the original Frenel lens in it. The camp sites cost $10 dollars a night. All this was cheap compared to our gas costs towing the boat. We used about 4 gallons on the boat. Almost all the Islands are national parks and uninhabited except for a few ranger stations and volunteers for the lighthouses.
