I started out with K.I.S.S. in mind. Go figure. The controls work really well from anywhere in the cockpit.

addition to Autopilot

Close-up of the mechanism to engage-disengage the autopilot. To disengage in a split second, you just have to pull on the string attached to the cotter pin. Note that the ss (yellowish) piece goes around the tube and then goes down to accomodate the cotter pin

Mexican Stiletto

I came upon this cat while walking a beach near San Carlos, Mexico. It has been widened to 16 feet, and lengthened to 30 feet.I was surprised to see it because I have just launched my own wide beam Stiletto projectin San Francisco. This Mexican boat has boards in hulls, a central motor box, and a 6 " I.D. main beam that slides over the main stub tubes.Very stout and clean set up for dolphin striker.

Shows the main beam set up and dolphin striker connection. The cockpit tray is now mounted directly to the hulls by flanges just visible behind the main beam.

Autopilot

This picture shows the mechanical set-up -essentially a 'clothesline' with a 12v motor at the center- ( when installed, this motor is protected from the elements). The motor could be, of course an original Autohelm, or even a standard tillerpilot, but in this case the correction would be only 5 or 6 in on each side compared to 2 ft on each side with the set up shown ),but the tiller pilot could be mounted permanently.
